Mmmm! I remember, once as a kid, me and my siblings planned to make some big bucks..so we pulled our money, went to the store and bought dots, abba zabbas {my favorite}, snack size big hunks, and a bunch of other favorites and opened a "candy stand". Apparently people didn't like inflation and didn't buy from us what they could buy around the corner for less, so we were left with no piggy bank money and a whole lot of candy. Still not too sad of a day for a kid, for most kids, candy is almost as good as money.

ReplyDeletepenny candy!! how i loved going to Dan's, Dan Davis gas and goodies. he had rows and rows of boxes of penny candy, a delight for any child. i shared this magical place with my children when they were very young. (do you remember Kristel?) every child would be given 25 cents and off they would go to Dan's. there they would be given their very own little brown paper bag to be filled with all sorts of goodies. they stood there with their faces pressed against the glass as they saw the assortment of candy. and sometimes if you smiled just right dan would let you go around and put candy in all by yourself. it always made me smile and remember my own happy times there. i love mary janes and the tiney malt balls that came in the skinny cello wrappers. and dan and eva for wonderful childhood memories. thanks sweetlizzies for the candy!
